Vietnamese Market

When my friend Gail Lee was traveling in Viet Nam 20 years ago, she captured a remarkable market scene. I painted the scene in watercolor years ago and just finished this rendering in oil.
Sunrise Reflection – Kiawah Island

This is my interpretation of a photo I took last summer. The sunrise itself was beautiful but the reflection it cast on the clouds was incredible.
Full Moon, San Francisco

In this early morning shot, my daughter captured a mysterious full moon peering through San Francisco’s towers.
Vermont Store Front

Years ago I passed by a small shop in Vermont that had the most artful window display. The image played in my mind for years until last fall, when I was finally ready to paint it.
Ferry Building, San Franciscog

In this intriguing photo, my daughter captured San Francisco coming to life just before dawn.
The Darkest Hour is Just Before Dawn

My daughter captured another striking scene, this time the Bay Bridge cast against a band of white cloud and a deep indigo sky. It will make an interesting painting.
Coit Tower Revisited

In this early morning photo my daughter captured Coit Tower perched above the old financial district.
San Francisco Dawn

My daughter took this photo of Coit Tower enveloped by morning fog. It reminds me of Carl Sandburg’s poem Fog.
The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on.
