Chinatown – San Francisco

fullsizeoutput_b06Walking through San Francisco’s Chinatown is like stepping into a different world. A good friend allowed me to work from her photo, Rainy Day in Chinatown (janeluriephotography.wordpress.com). The deeper I worked into the painting, the more I appreciated what a unique moment she had captured. When I asked her about it, she said she has returned to that location many times and never seen anything again that approaches what she captured that day.

  3. Jane, Your interpretation of my photograph is truly stunning. The way you’ve captured the colors and light on the rainy street is beautifully done and the work that you put into the details of the streetscape is masterful. What a joy to see, my talented friend!

  4. Wow, that is one of the coolest paintings yet! The depth perception is awesome and I really like the light on the umbrella from the lamp post, awesome!

  5. This is so wonderful – you can really sense the dreary dampness of the day. The lanterns seemed to be swaying just a little from the rain. Dearly love the little lady with her cane and umbrella – needing to be out and about despite the weather. It is amazing to see the details added since you posted “Gestation Period” just three months ago. Is it exhilarating to finish a work? I wonder if it might seem a bit melancholy to bid adieu to something you’ve so enjoyed working on…. K
